Your Donations At Work
The Roosevelt Foundation now has an endowment of over $400,000 in just three years and an alumni database of over 20,000 RHS alums.
In the past two years, $45,000 has been distributed for education essentials, including 8 new Apple iMac computers, 25 music stands and ergonomic chairs for the music programs, and band uniforms for next year's kickoff season in the new building. The Foundation has also brought a sense of unity and pride to the alumni community with the Annual Golf Tournament, the Sports Hall of Fame Auction, and the All Class Reunions. The Grand Opening Tour took place on September 30, 2006. These alumni events are always fun and proceeds and donations support Roosevelt.
Government funding is not enough to sustain a top-tier high school in this ever-changing, modern world. To give our students the opportunities to challenge themselves and understand the true value of a quality education, assistance must come from somewhere. What better place to find this assistance from those who have walked in the same halls and learned the same lessons? The Roosevelt Foundation seeks to ensure that future Roughriders become responsible, capable and valued citizens who leave the school with tools to succeed, thrive, and eventually give back.

Education Funding today
Washington State is a dismal 42nd, well below national average for funding education; there's $548 less per student than in 1992! Yet RHS is considered one of the state's top high schools and is nationally recognized in many areas. The funding shortfall has the potential to have a huge negative impact; currently, the difference is made up with private dollars to assure the highest level of education.
Good News: Roosevelt currently gets by relying on private funding. Last year, the school raised almost $200,000 with 5 auctions (most schools have 1); parents are giving to multiple programs.
Bad News: The budget has increased each year, as have costs and the number of students. Donations from parents have decreased over the last few years due to the slowing economy.
The number of students with greater needs has increased. Roosevelt can't budget using private dollars which are not sustainable. We can't sacrifice students' futures while we wait for public dollars catch up to funding a quality education.
The RHS Foundation Endowment Fund, a sustainable source of funding, is a legacy that, with your generosity, can impact and shape the future of Roosevelt for generations to come.
